The <em>boavalhu&nbsp;<\/em>(neckline) is made from ribbons that are woven using cotton, silk and metallic threads. Vivid colours such as greens, reds and blues are used along with silver and gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ribbons, known as <em>kasabu<\/em> are woven using a special set of equipment, <em>gathaa fai<\/em> and <em>boa.<\/em> There are three types of ribbon\u2014<em>hiru, bagiyaa<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>rodhigandu.&nbsp;Rodhigandu<\/em>&nbsp;is the most elaborate of the three.
